School and college relationships were so dependable. They came with an assurance called the term. I could be sure that my friends wouldn't walk out of my life suddenly. They would have to complete the term with me, which gave me enough time to condition myself to the loss.
Office relationships aren't like that. They are sudden and in a state of flux. Just when I thought I'm getting close to someone, they get married, or go to get an education, or just quit for whatever reason.
Being the kind who thrives on personal relationships, there one philosophy in which I have immersed myself: People come, people go.
Today she is my confidante. Tomorrow it'll be him. And then perhaps her. People come, people go.
